Creating Prayer flags
Workshop 1:
The workshop is divided into four segments. We start with an informal chat around ecology, sustainability and climate change.
We shall then have a session of guided meditation with the help of some basic breathing exercises.
Dyeing the prayer flag fabric with things we can find in our Kitchen- Onion peels, avocado peels and stones, Black beans.
Lastly, we write our prayers, draw and create our prayer flags collaboratively.
Materials will be provided.
About this event:
Inspired by the Buddhist colourful prayer flags which are found fluttering happily in the Himalayan regions of India and Nepal. They are inscribed with mantras representing peace, compassion, strength and wisdom. Regardless of culture, one universal truth emerges:
Everything begins with a prayer*!
*Prayer - ‘an earnest hope or wish’
Embracing the power of this timeless tradition to unlock its potential to help create an ecologically sustainable future.
An open invitation to all in the community to come and help create the work of public art commissioned to be installed at Arbeit studio,Trowbridge.
The work is created and facilitated by our Artist resident- Anita Agarwal for our third edition of Re-Rooted program.
This workshop is free to attend, but there are limited spaces. Click here to RSVP.
